I would like to think medicine has evolved past the point of gender discrimination, but unfortunately it has and still does happen to me. I have seen a marked difference in the way Dan's pain is treated and mine. If I stand up for myself, I am seen as a "difficult" patient, but if I just put up with being ignored, it is assumed that I must not hurt that bad after all. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
