Learned something new today....
Did you know that, even in states where gay marriage is legal, a same-sex spouse is barred from receiving survivor's benefits such as Social Security in the event of their partner's death? This is due to the "Defense of Marriage Act". If you, like me, would like this restriction to be eliminated, sign the petition here:

I figure if a person is committed enough to become legally married, a spouse is a spouse is a spouse. The government should recognize them as such, particularly in the states that have approved gay marriage.
