God of the shadows,
you know
how I have loved the darkness,
its enticing mystery,
its intimate depths.

And also you know
how I have longed for the light,
for the spark in the shadows
that brings vision and warmth.

Hold me together
in all my turnings
from shadow to sunlight,
from full day to night.

the quickening edge
